WELCOME TO UCL AT HERE EAST

Here East is located in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and invites innovators, disruptors, visionaries and like-minded people to share – and participate – in the making of game-changing innovations. UCL’s new space at Here East is a unique collaboration between The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment and the Faculty of Engineering Science.

 

HOW TO GET TO HERE EAST

Nearest tubes:

  • Hackney Wick station:(Overground): this is approximately a 10-minute walk to Here East and has good connections to Stratford and Highbury & Islington in central London.
  • Stratford Underground station: (Central line, Jubilee line, Overground, DLR and National rail services) – this station is approximately a 25-minute walk to Here East or a 5 min bus ride with an available free shuttle. You can connect to rail services outside of London or underground services into central London.
  • Stratford International Station: Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and Southeastern High-Speed services.

Nearest buses:

  • The Here East shuttle bus operates from Here East to Stratford International and Stratford station. You must have a Here East work pass to access the bus or state you are a UCL visitor. Bus stops are Stratford international bus stop E and Stratford City bus stop X.Monday to Friday every 5 min (7 am – 11 pm). Saturday every 15 min (9 am to 6 pm).
  • The 388 buses operate from Here East to Stratford and into central London via Hackney. It also stops at the Copper Box Arena and the London Aquatics Centre.
  • The 26, 236, 276 and 339 buses also operate a few minutes from Here East.

Here East canal-side complex offers the closest array of cafes and restaurants:

  • Mother opened its doors in 2016 with the aim to bring everyone organic, eco conscious food that doesn’t cost the planet.
  • Randy’s Wing Bar is an award winning gourmet Chicken Wing restaurant and bar.
  • Four Quarters team bring a winning combination of nostalgic arcade games and craft beer to Hackney Wick.
  • Gotto Trattoria serves a daily-changing menu of pizza, hand-rolled pasta, quality British fish and meat and seasonal Italian ingredients.

Hackney Wick Canal side restaurants are good for evening drinks or dinner:

  • Number 90 is a bar and restaurant with food available between 12-9.30 PM.
  • Barge East, get delicious food and drink on a boat.

 

Restaurants on the outskirts of the park are all an approximately 5-minute walk from Here East:

  • The Old Bath offers fresh lunches, teas and coffees and a cosy place to meet.
  • Pearl serves food after 10 am and coffees and teas from 9 am.
  • HWK coffee bar is next to Hackney Wick Station.
  • Howling Hops Brewery and Tank Bar, home of the UK’s first-ever dedicated tank bar.
  • Beer merchants tap, is a craft beer bar that also serves filter coffees and a selection of Canton teas.
  • Westfield Stratford City food court it’s just a 5 min quick ride with the shuttle.

Westfield Stratford city shopping centre.

 

Lea River Park is the name given to six new parks which together connect Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to the Royal Docks and the River Thames, It takes approximately an hour to walk the entire park and it also includes cycle paths.

, is one of London’s favourite open spaces where you can also find pubs and restaurants in its surroundings, such as The Pavilion Café.
  • V&A Museum of Childhood Victoria and Albert Museum in Bethnal Green. The nearest tube stations are Bethnal Green and Cambridge Heath.
  • Columbia Road Flower Market. visit this floral market on Sundays from 8 am to 3 pm. The nearest station is Hoxton.
  • Roman Road Market, a traditional market in Bow that happens on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The nearest tube stations are Mile End and Bow Road DLR.
  • Shoreditch street art and Brick Lane Market, visit the market on Sundays for antiques or just visit the shops and walk through its streets full of creative art.
  • Old Spitalfields Market, it is one of the finest surviving Victorian Market Halls in the capital, visit this for its shops and general arts and craft market.
